Rochester National Guard Soldiers Return from Deployment

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (01/08/2013)(readMedia)-- Approximately 65 more Soldiers of the New York Army National Guard’s 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team return home today from demobilization at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. The returning Soldiers are part of the Headquarters and Company B of the 427th Brigade Support Battalion.
WHAT: Homecoming reunion for New York Army National Guard Soldiers following their deployment to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
WHO: Approximately 65 Soldiers of 27th Infantry Brigade, along with family and friends will reunite in Rochester.
WHEN: Tuesday, January 8 at approx. 4 p.m. (Soldiers may arrive up to an hour earlier, news media should call for updates prior to arrival times)

Background:
Approximately 200 total more Soldiers from the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team return home in two flights to armories in New York City, New Windsor, Latham, Binghamton, Syracuse, Fort Drum, Rochester and Buffalo as families welcome home elements of the 427th Brigade Support Battalion.
Most of the Soldiers deployed with this group served in Kuwait. The Soldiers performed logistics, administrative and security missions while deployed. The 27th Brigade mobilized in January 2012 at Camp Shelby. The unit deployed in support of more than 25 different missions and locations throughout the Middle East.
The remaining 125 Soldiers of the brigade will demobilize and return home in the latter part of January with the last group returning on or about Jan. 28. The final return of the brigade’s Soldiers will be using commercial tickets to return them to their hometowns.
