250 Soldiers from armories in Buffalo, Lockport, Syracuse and New York City will particiate in training

LATHAM, NY (07/18/2019) (readMedia)-- Two hundred and fifty Soldiers assigned to the New York Army National Guard's 152nd Brigade Engineer Battalion are heading to Fort Drum, N.Y. this weekend to take part in the battalion's two week annual training from July 19 to August 2.

The Soldiers are assigned to armories in Buffalo, Lockport, Syracuse and New York City.

The battalion provides engineer support to the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. The brigade is headquartered in Syracuse and has units located across New York.

The battalion was created in October 2018 by converting the 27th Brigade's 27th Brigade Special Troops Battalion into the new unit with the addition of a second combat engineer company in the battalion.

This is the unit's first annual training as the 152nd Brigade Engineer Battalion.

During their training period the unit's Soldiers will be participating in a brigade-level command post exercise, conducting live fire training, honing the skills engineers employ in clearing obstacles using demolitions, and in creating obstacles.

The battalion also includes a signal company which will provide communications support to other brigade units training at Fort Drum.
