Col. Seth Morgulas, a Scarsdale resident, takes command of 369th Sustainment Brigade

LATHAM, NY (08/06/2019) New York Army National Guard Colonel Seth L. Morgulas, a Scarsdale resident and Iraq War veteran, took command of the 369th Sustainment Brigade during a ceremony at Camp Smith Training Site near Peekskill on Saturday, August 3.

The 369th Sustainment Brigade traces its history back to the Harlem Hell Fighters of World War I. The 369th Infantry Regiment, a New York National Guard unit of African-Americans with mostly white officers, spent more time under fire than any other American unit in that war and individual Soldiers and the unit were honored by the French government for heroism.

Morgulas replaced Col. Stephen M. Bousquet who had led the brigade in Kuwait in 2016/2017. Morgulas, a full-time National Guard officer, had been serving as the brigade's deputy commander.

A sustainment brigade can command three to five logistics support battalions to provide maintenance and supplies to a division sized force in combat.

Morgulas was commissioned as an armor officer in 1993 after graduating from John Hopkins University as a Distinguished Military Graduate.

He first served on active-duty, where he served as a tank platoon leader, both while deployed to Korea and in the United States; as a company executive officer and as a force modernization officer.

After joining the New York Army National Guard, Morgulas served as a full-time Army Guard officer as battalion maintenance officer, headquarters company commander, personnel officer and operations officer for the 1st Battalion, 101st Cavalry Regiment on Staten Island.

He deployed to Iraq in 2004-2005 as the commander of Bravo Battery of the 1st Battalion, 258th Field Artillery Regiment.

He has also served as battalion executive officer, brigade and division staff officers, and as the Commander of the 369th Special Troops Battalion, which he led in Kuwait in 2016-2017.

Morgulas holds a Major in History from John Hopkins University and a law degree from the University of Chicago Law School and a Master of Strategic Studies from the Army War College.

He is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms and Services Staff School and the United States Army Command and General Staff College. Colonel Morgulas has also completed the Military Police Officer Transition Course and the Human Resource Qualification Course.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and Oversea Service Ribbon. He has also been awarded the Combat Action Badge, Army Parachutist Badge and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.

Colonel Morgulas and his wife Margreta live in Scarsdale and have two sons, Max and Samuel.
