HEMPSTEAD -- Three members of Hofstra University Army ROTC received their commissions as second lieutenants for service in the New York Army National Guard. In a ceremony held May 14 at Hofstra University, the graduating cadets from the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) four associated Long Island colleges or universities received their oath of commission and gold bars from their professor of military science. Newly commissioned 2nd Lieutenant Anthony J. Fasano (pictured above) receives his lieutenant bars from his family. Fasano, an Adelphi University senior, was commissioned a field artillery officer and will serve with the New York Army National Guard’ s Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry. Joining Fasano were new lieutenants Andrew P. Stein, a new aviation officer who graduates from Hofstra and will serve with Company D, 3rd Battalion, 142nd Assault Helicopter in Ronkonkoma and Stephen Totter, a Hofstra graduate who received his commission as an intelligence officer and will serve with the 501st Ordnance Battalion in Schenectady, N.Y.
