WATERVLIET--New York Army National Guard Sgt. Donald Leinfelder explains to Ray Gaston, Watervliet Arsenal support division chief, how a similar armor kit may have saved his life during a 2005 firefight in Iraq. Since 2004 the Arsenal team has produced more than 15,000 gunner protective kits and 6,000 overhead protection kits. The Arsenal has ended production of those kits as the Army switches to new types of armored vehicles.
