LATHAM, N.Y. - New York National Guard Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy, at left, presents The Adjutant General’s Award to Maj. Gen. Mogoruti Ledwaba of the South African National Defense Force here Dec. 3. Ledwaba recently completed a tour of service as the South African Defense Attache to the United States from 2009 until 2012. During that time, his coordination, assistance and support helped grow the State Partnership Program between the New York National Guard and the South African Defense Force, conducting 33 partnership programs, including the recent participation of New York State military forces in the African Aerospace and Defense Airshow and Defense Exhibition, held in Pretoria, South Africa in September. Ledwaba was in Latham to learn more about the New York National Guard’s logistics program and the recent deployment of state military forces following Hurricane Sandy. Ledwaba next returns to South Africa for assignment as the South African Defense Force Officer Commanding Works Capability, a logistics function similar to public works. U.S. Army photo by Col.
