CMAP SMITH--New York Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Travis Wood, assigned to C Troop, 2nd Squadron 101st Cavalry, fires an M-17 pistol during qualifications,on the second day of the 2024 Region One Best Warrior Competition at Camp Smith, New York, on May 14, 2024. The four-day competition, hosted by the New York Army National Guard, requires Soldiers to travel throughout New York State to compete in a series of physically and mentally demanding challenges. The National Guard's Region One consist of New York, New Jersey and the New England States. The winner of this competition competes nationally in Vermont in August.

The state-of-the-art 40,830 square foot maintenance building replaces the former facility, which was built in 1949, and is designed to support approximately 1,200 vehicles assigned to Army National Guard units from the Mid-Hudson Valley down to the Bronx.

CAMP SMITH TRAINING SITE--New York Army National Guard Spc. Soldiers of the New York Army National Guard and the Army Reserve's 310th Military Police Battalion work with members of the Peekskill Volunteer Ambulance Corps during an emergency responder drill conducted Saturday, October 18 at Camp Smith Training Site in Cortlandt Manor. The exercise tested the ability of Camp Smith personnel, and local civilian first responders to cope with a casualty at one of the trqaining area's ranges. The exercise, which also involved a Life Net of New York emergency medical helicopter, simulated a gunshot wound to a member of the Uniondale-based 310th MPs while training on Camp Smith's Range 1. Members of the Continental Village Fire Department, the Westchester County Emergency Management Office, and the New YOrk Guard, the state's volunteer defense force, also participated.
