TROY--New York Army National Guard Soldiers 1st Sgt. Joseph Landy (left), and his son Pfc. Landy, of the 501st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Battalion, is home on leave from Iraq and Pfc. Landy is scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan with the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in 2012.

BASRA, Iraq-- New York Army National Guard Specialist Jorge Alvarez, a member of the 501st Ordnance Battalion who lives in the Bronx, receives a coin from Sergeant Major of the Army Raymond Chandler during a visit to Contingency Operating Base Basrah on June 25. The Soldiers of the 501st Ordnance Battalion are overseeing Explosive Ordnance Disposal units in southern Iraq as part of Task Force Troy. The unit is based in Scotia, New York.
