KINGSTON-New York Naval Militia landing craft LC-350 pulls up on shore in Kingston, New York to debark an ATV assigned to the 2nd Civil Support Team on May 11 during a three-day United States Coast Guard exercise testing an interagency response to an oil spill on the Hudson River. Along with deploying the Civil Support Team to help analyze the spill, the Military Emergency Boat Team deployed an oil boom in the river.

LATHAM-- Members of the New York Naval Militia on duty at New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs headquarters in Latham New York salute Naval Militia Gunnery Sgt. Elena Parra-Perez with a traditional Piping Ashore ceremony on Dec. 29 2021 as she concludes her tour of duty with the detail. Naval Militia Sailors and Marines have been working in the personnel and finance offices during the New York National Guard COVID-19 response to assist with administrative tasks. The New York Naval Militia is composed of Navy Coast Guard and Marine Corps Reserve members who also volunteer to perform state duty when called.

NEW YORK CITY-- New York Naval Militia Petty Officer Ken Stefandel, a crewman on Naval Militia Patrol Boat 440, watches while efforts are made to rescue the passengers of a Bell Jet Ranger tourist helicopter which crashed in the East River on October 4. PB 440 was on patrol that afternoon and was one of many watercraft which responded to lend assistance if necessary. PB 440 conducts regular patrols of New York City’s waterways in coordination with the United States Coast Guard as part of Joint Task Force Empire Shield.

NEW YORK STATE DIVISION OF MILITARY AND NAVAL AFFAIRS, LATHAM, N.Y. -- New York Naval Militia officers meet in the Joint Operations Center here on Aug. 2 to evaluate lessons learned from a recall mission conducted in conjunction with Trojan Horse 2011. An annual maritime security training exercise sponsored by the State University of New York Maritime College, Trojan Horse joins New York Naval Militia personnel with state, federal and law enforcement agencies while assessing homeland security threats and testing security plans.
