History Returns to Watervliet with Help from the NYARNG

Capt. John Klimes III and Staff Sgt. Richard Gorman, both of the New York National Guards 1427th Transportation Company from Queensbury, NY, secure this one-of-a-kind experimental lightweight howitzer to a fork lift in preparation for off loading at the howitzers new home at the Watervliet Arsenal Museum, Watervliet, NY, April 13, 2011. The experimental gun was designed and manufactored at the arsenal in 1995 during a collaberation between the Watervliet Arsenal and defense contractor General Dynamics. Although the piece was never fielded, many of the design elements it contains can be seen in todays lightweight artillery pieces.
