NY Army Guard medics learn to treat military dogs

CAMP BUERHING, Kuwait --New York Army National Guard Sgt. Robert Espinal and Spc. Reynaldo Castillo, combat medical specialists assigned to the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion, check the inner thigh heartbeat of Laska a military working dog supervised by MWD handlers assigned to Area Support Group - Kuwait on September 22 2023 at Camp Buehring Kuwait. The battalion is assigned to the 185th Aviation Battalion while deployed. Combat medical specialists from the 185th conducted training on how safely stabilize military working dogs injured on duty. This included assessing vital signs recognizing and treating shock and heat injuries and where to apply intravenous fluids. The 185th is deployed in support of Operations Inherent Resolve Spartan Shield and New Normal.

NY Army Guard Soldiers get new patch

KUWAIT-- New York Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion place the patch of the 185th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade on the left shoulder of another Soldier's uniform during a unit patch ceremony on July 14 2023 at Camp Buehring Kuwait. The ceremony represented the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion coming under the command of the Mississippi Army National Guard aviation brigade which is support Operation Spartan Shield, the Army mission in the region.

FORT HOOD, Texas-- Seven New York Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion reaffirm their oath of enlistment after becoming United States citizens during a March 24, 2023 ceremony at Fort Hood, Texas. The Soldiers of the 642nd are training to deploy to Kuwait as part of the 185th Aviation Brigade of the Mississippi Army National Guard.

642nd leaders train at West Point reaction course

WEST POINT --1st Lt. Paul Kelly and 1st Lt. Jessica Persoon both assigned to the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion, New York Army National Guard work together to negotiate the river crossing obstacle at the United States Military Academy Leadership Reaction Course at West Point N.Y. on Dec. 8 2018. NYNG responds to Lake Ontario flooding

HAMLIN--Soldiers from the 642nd Aviation Brigade load sandbags for use by the a Hamlin resident on Tuesday, May 2, in support of Governor Andrew Cuomo's declaration of an emergency along Lake Ontario's shoreline due to high water levels. The state is making available 365,000 sandbags that will be used to shore up areas of Lake Ontario shoreline which are eroding due to high water levels. The New York National Guard is one of the state agencies the governor has directed to respond.

Employers Learn About Guard

LONG ISLAND--New York Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion meet employers who took part in an boss lift sponsored by the 642nd Aviation support Battalon and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve program at Rocky Point Natural Resource Center in Rocky Point N.Y. on Saturday March 12. The bosses met at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Ronkonkoma and took part in an orientation flight on board a UH-60 from the 3rd Battalion 142nd Aviation and A CH-47 assigned to Co. B. 3rd Battalion 126th Aviation over New York City before observing training on the ground. The units are part of the 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade.

Anti-Tank Training in Kuwait

CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait-- New York Army National Guard Soldiers from the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion (ASB) 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade conduct a live fire of the AT-4 anti-tank weapon on May 19th 2014 near Camp Buehring Kuwait.The 642nd ASB New York Army National Guard is currently deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Over the deployment the battalion has been able to train its soldiers on each assigned weapon system including the MK-19 grenade launcher and M2 .50 caliber machine gun.
