Final Flight in African for New York Pilot

CAMP LEMMONNIER, DJIBOUTI-- New York Army National Guard Chief Warrant Officer 4 Dave Lewis, a C-12 pilot from Detachment 20 Operational Support Airlift, is congratulated by the commander of Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa Major General Wayne W. Grigsby, following his final flight as an Army aviator on July 25, 2014. Lewis’ last flight was back from Kenya in support of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. The Latham-based C-12 detachment has been serving in Djibouti for ten months and is expected home soon.

C-12 Aviation Team Deploying to Africa

LATHAM--Soldiers of the New York Army National Guard's Detachment 20 of the Army's Operational Support Airlift Agency, stand in formation during their mobilization ceremony on Friday, Oct. 25. The Eight aviation Soldiers are deploying to the Djibouti to support Joint Task Force- Horn of Africa with transportation aircraft support. The Detachment flies the C-12 transport aircraft.

Aviators Take a Training Break

FORT DRUM--New York Army National Guard Aviation Soldiers assigned to Detachment 20 of the Army National Guard's Operational Support Aviation Agency take a break after negotiating the tactics course here on August 8. The detachment's pilots and mechanics are responsible for operating the C-12 transport aircraft based at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Latham. They were going through pre-mobilization training to prepare for a deployment to the Horn of Africa later this year.
