Best Warrior underway at Camp Smith

CAMP SMITH --New York National Guard soldiers conduct a tactical insertion during the State Best Warrior Competition at Camp Smith Training Site, New York on April, 17 2024. The State Best Warrior Competition is an annual event in which junior enlisted Soldiers and non-commissioned officers from various units across New York compete in several events intended to test their military skills and knowledge as well as their physical fitness and endurance with the winners proceeding the Region One competition next month in New York.

Soldiers, Airmen on duty during eclipse

NIAGARA FALLS --New York National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from the 2nd Squadron, 101st Cavalry Regiment and 107th Attack Wing witness the beginning stages of the total solar eclipse covering the region on April 8 2024 at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station in Niagara Falls New York.. The Soldiers and Airmen were on duty to support local officials if required. Over 150 service members across New York State were activated to potentially support civil emergency services due to the huge increase in tourism generated by the event.

Soldier laid to rest at National Cemetery

SARATOGA NATIONAL CEMETERY-New York Army National Guard Col. Jason Lefton, the commander of the 42nd Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade presents an American flag to the family of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Casey Frankoski following military funeral services held at Gerald B. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, New York on March 22, 2024. Frankoski, along with Chief Warrant Officer 2 John M. Grassia III, was killed in a March 8 helicopter crash outside Rio Grande City, Texas while patrolling the southwest border in support of the Border Patrol.
