Richard Perec, a motor transport operator, attached to the 4th Resolute Support Sustainment Brigade from Fort Hood, Texas, monitors the download of munitions during a recent demilitarize operation near Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, Saturday, Jan. 10.Perec's mission that day was to destroy 6,000 pounds of unneeded ammunition. Its safer to blow the ammunition up than to let it fall into the hands of the enemy or try to ship it home and risk it detonating in transit, he said.

CAMP MARMEL, Afghanistan--Soldiers assigned to the New York Army National Guard's 1569th Transportation Company make their way out from under the Chinook. As soon as the instructors ensured the cargo was hooked up, they would signal to the crew team that everything was ready to go. The Soldiers have been in Afghanistan since May providing logistics support to coalition forces.

Combat Escort Teams (CET) are the fighting element of the Combat Logistics Patrols which keep forces in Afghanistan supplied.

FORT HOOD, TX-- New York Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major Frank Wicks (right) promotes 1569th Transportaton Company member Ronald Walker to sergeant during a visit to the unit on April 29. The 1569th Soldiers have been training at Fort Drum to prepare for deployment to Afghanistan. This was the first time in his 31-year military career that Wicks had "pinned on" a Soldiers new rank. He's always tried to have a family member or other leader do it, Wicks explained.

STEWART AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Newburgh--New York Army Staff Sgt. Christopher Chatfield, a memberr of the 1569th Transportation Company, with family members friends and fellow Soliders during a bendediction at a pre-deployment ceremony for the 1569th Transportation Company conducted in a hangar at the 105th Airlift Wing March 9 2014. The soldiers will conduct pre-deployment training at Fort Hood Killeen Texas before leaving for operations in Afghanistan. The mobilization and deployment of the 1569th Transportation Company is expected to last one year.

FORT IRWIN, Calif.-- New York Army National Guard Soldiers with the 1569th Transportation Company, based in New Windsor, N.Y., at the National Training Center secure pallets of sports drinks on a flatbed truck. The 1569th brought supplies to a forward-operating base outside the safe zone as part of a convoy with the 298th Transportation Company, based in Franklin, Pa., and the 758th Maintenance Company. The 1569th and other units of the 369th Sustainment Brigade are conducting their Annual Training at the National Training Center here.
