FORT HOOD, TX-- New York Army National Guard Command Sergeant Major Frank Wicks (right) promotes 1569th Transportaton Company member Ronald Walker to sergeant during a visit to the unit on April 29. The 1569th Soldiers have been training at Fort Drum to prepare for deployment to Afghanistan. This was the first time in his 31-year military career that Wicks had "pinned on" a Soldiers new rank. He's always tried to have a family member or other leader do it, Wicks explained.
