CAMP SMITH--Soldiers participating in the 53rd Troop Command's Best Warrior competition wait to fire on the Engagement Skills Trainer (EST) during the competition at Camp Smith Training Site, N.Y.on Sept. 10, 2021. The 53rd Troop Command Best Warrior Competition is an annual event in which junior enlisted Soldiers and non-commissioned officers from various 53rd Troop Command units compete in several events intended to test their military skills and knowledge, as well as their physical fitness and endurance with the winners proceeding the State competition next year.

NEW YORK--U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Nathaly Eumana assigned to 1569th Medium Truck Company 369th Sustainment Brigade 53rd Troop Command provides intelligence services in support of state efforts to provide mass COVID-19 vaccinations administered by the New York State Department of Health at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan New York February 10 2021. The National Guard has hundreds of Guardsmen and women deployed to the vaccination site to support staffing for the site. The New York State Department of Health conducts vaccination efforts for essential workers and members of the community over age 65 beginning January 13 2021. Eligible members of the public can register for a vaccine appointment through the Department of Health website httpswww1.nyc.govsitedohcovidcovid-19-vaccines.page.

The 53rd Troop Command serves an important role within the New York Army National Guard as a General Officer Command Headquarters providing command and control to its units across the state of New York.

CAMP SMITH-- Brigadier General Jack James accepts the flag of the 53rd Troop Command from Major General Ray Shields, the Adjutant General of New York, during change of command ceremonies on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Camp Smith Training Site. James took over command of the 53rd from Brig. Gen. Michele Natali. Natali also serves as the Assistant Adjutant General, Army and will continue in that position.

ALBANY--New York Army National Guard Brig. Gen. Michael Swezey, commander of the 53rd Troop Command, and Rose Harvey, the commissioner of the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation speak with students during a ceremony opening a historic Civil War battle flag exhibit at the State Capitol on Wednesday, Sept. 18. The exhibit " 1862: Red, White and Battered" displays the historic flags that the Division of Military and Naval Affairs holds on behalf of the state of New York. The Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation has been working to preserve the historic flags.
