Soldiers train for New York City mission

CAMP SMITH-- U.S. Army Spc. Stephanie Kultzow, a combat medic assigned to the New York Army National Guard 145th Maintenance Battalion, fires a 9 mm Beretta on a qualifying range at Camp Smith Training Site, 20 September 2016. The Soldiers were qualifying in order to go on State Active Duty to reinforce Joint Task Force Empire, the New York National Guard security force in New York City, at the direction of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, in response to increased security concerns in the city following a Sept. 17 bomb attack there.

Soldiers brave snow to stand readay

STATEN ISLAND--Soldiers assigned to the New York Army National Guards 145th Maintenance Company ready their vehicles for deployment on at the Manor Road Armory on Staten Island on Saturday Jan. 23 2016 as a blizzard pummeled New York City. Eighty-nine of the units Soldiers were placed on state active duty at the direction of the governor in case New York City officials required assistance in dealing with the blizzards aftermath.

Adjutant General Visits 145th Maintenance Company

CAMP DODGE, Iowa-- New York Army National Guard Private First Class Joseph Myers, Brooklyn, New York, 145th Surface Maintenance Company, adjusts a mine detector headset for Major General Patrick A. Murphy, the Adjutant General of New York, during his visit to their training site on Tuesday, Jan. 15. The 145th SMC is training on a variety of equipment during their annual training period at the National Maintenance Training Center, Camp Dodge, Iowa. Murphy, an Iowa native, visited the New York Soldiers on his way back from a meeting in Michigan.
