WEST POINT- Members of the New York Guard and New York Naval Militia gather at the United States Military Academy Officers Club at West Point on Dec. 1, 2018 for their annual holiday ball. Speakers included Major General David Warager, the Commanding General of the New York Guard, and Rear Admiral Timothy J. Zakriski the Commander of the New York Naval Militia.

Star Wars Characters Visit 106th for Family Day

WESTHAMPTON BEACH NEW YORK - New York Air National Guard Staff Sgt James Bavaro(left) an airmen with the 106th Rescue Wing dressed as a Star Wars Clone Air Air National Guard Base here. The event featured guest speakers games and prizes for members children and an appearance by members of the 501st Legion-- a group of Star Wars players-- dressed up as Darth Vader and a Clone Trooper.

Naval Militia Sailors Keep Summer Safe for Boaters

ROUSES POINT, N.Y. - New York Naval Militia Petty Officers Jeff Alexander, left, and Robert Hill maneuver Patrol Boat PB 221 near the historic site of Fort Montgomery on Lake Champlain July 16. The Naval Militia conducted security missions on the lake in support of the Border Patrol, helping to direct boaters to the Customs and Border Protection inspection station.

Naval Militia Training at Camp Smith

CAMP SMITH--New York Naval Militia Petty Officer Frank Gavin conducts training on how to tow one of the Military Emergency Boat Service patrol craft during training here on May 18. The Naval Militia’s Military Emergency Boat Service (MEBS) operates nine watercraft that support security and law enforcement missions. Naval Militia members belong to the Navy Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, and Marine Corps Reserve and agree to make themselves available for state duty when called upon. A small number of Naval Militia members are retired servicemembers not affiliated with the federal reserve forces.
