JENNINGS CREEK-- The view from a New York Army National Guard UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter conducting fire fighting operations on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024 at the 5,000 acre Jennings Creek/Sterling Forest State Park fire on the New York/ New Jersey border in Orange County, illustrates the challenges facing fire fighters traying to contain the blaze on the area's hillsides. The New York Army National Guard launched two Black Hawks on Nov. 11 and on Nov. 12 to support Department of Environmental Conservation firefighting efforts. Over the course of two days the Army Guard aircraft dropped over 117,000 gallons of water on the flames.
