Hai Nguyen a combat medic assigned to the 466th Area Support Medical Company assists a Brazilian medical officer during emergency trauma care in Foz Do Iguaz, Brazil while taking part in Operation Parana III, a humanitarian response exercise on August 15 2023. The New York National Guard sent 18 personnel to participate in Operation Parana from August 12-19 2023 along with more than 14 participating countries as part of the National Guard State Partnership Program.

CAMP SMITH TRAINING SITE Cortlandt Manor -- Dr. Anar Patel a resident doctor from Albany Medical Center slowly works a laryngoscope through the throat of a mannequin in order to open the air passage and place an endotracheal tube into the lungs so that bag-mask ventilator can be applied to assist the patients breathing while Col. James Coleman the newly appointed state surgeon looks on.Patel and another resident doctor were on hand at Camp Smith during the medical commands annual training. The doctors were invited to come to Camp Smith on Aug. 5 to become familiar with the Army methods and procedures of operating a field aid station and to give some professional guidance to all New York Army National Guard medics who wanted to perfect their life-saving skills.

QUEENSBURY,NY--More than 320 Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, veterans, military family members and friends from the community pour from the Queensbury Guard Armory on Christmas Eve Morning for an Annual Road March in remembrance of deployed military members over the holidays. It was the largest turn out since the effort began in 2003 and included one area member of the New York Army National Guard home on leave from Iraq -- Specialist Ashley Towers from Corinth.

QUEENSBURY, NY (12/24/2009)-- Led by New York Army National Guard Soldiers Pfc. Matthew Jones (left) an Albany resident, and Pfc. Seth Wieland, who lives in South Glens Falls; almost 100 New York Army National Guard Soldiers and Civilian set out on a 3.8 mile hike that began and ended at the Queensbury Readiness Center on the morning of Christmas Eve. This is the sixth time that area Soldiers, veterans, and military families have met to conduct a Road March in support of Soldiers deployed away from their homes during Christmas. The tradition began in 2004 when Soldiers of Company C, 2nd Battalion 108th infantry, who had been assigned to the Glens Falls Armory , were serving in Iraq over Christmas. Sgt. 1st Class Arthur Coons, the local recruiter organized a road march, the military term for a hike, to remember the Soldiers who were not at home and instead overseas. Since then the march has continued. "We want them to know we are keeping them and their service in mind this season. We wanted to take some time out to remember them and what they are doing for our nation far from home and seperated from those who love them," Coon said. New York State Sen. Elizabeth Little, who represent the region, was one of those attending this years march ,which was also covered by local television stations and newspapers. The Guard members came from the 2nd Battalion 108th Infantry, the 466th Area Medical Company, and the 1427th Medium Truck Company, the 3rd Battalion 142nd Aviation, and the 206th Military Police Company.

QUEENSBURY-- The new Queensbury Readiness Center was officially opened for business on Wednesday, Aug.19 with a ribbon ctting ceremony. Local government officials joined Major General Joseph Taluto, the Adjutant General, in dedicating the new builing. Jamie Green and Soldiers of the 466th Area Support Medical Company receive the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) Distinguished Service Award from Michael Dowling, Chairman of HANYS? Board of Trustees and President and Chief Executive Officer of North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. ?This award recognizes distinguished service, and we cannot imagine service more distinguished than putting your own life on the line to provide lifesaving medical care to a fallen comrade,? Dowling said. ?Over the past two years the Soldiers of this unit dove into this job,? Green described of the mobilization training and combat tour in southern Iraq. The company operated from four locations, treating and stabilizing patients, both U.S., coalition or Iraqi, before moving them on for more advanced care. ?They took command of what they needed to do and got it done,? Green said. A separate award was presented to National Guard Col. Dr. Joan Sullivan of Ithaca, for administering life-saving care to thousands of wounded, injured, and ill soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Sullivan accepted the award via video message from her current deployment in Kabul, Afghanistan--her second combat tour of duty overseas in the past five years. She was represented at the ceremony by her sister, Barbara Sullivan-Sicke of Lake Luzerne. ?I cannot adequately describe the pride she has in her fellow Soldiers,? Sullivan-Sicke said. ?We are truly inspired by their commitment to service, their commitment to their fellow Soldiers, and their commitment to our nation,? Dowling said. ?There are no better friends to a wounded Soldier than the 466th and Colonel Sullivan, and we believe their sacrifice should not go unnoticed.? ?I want to thank you and the hospitals you represent for being such a tremendous training ground for the National Guard,? Green said to the conference attendees. ?Our Guard medical personnel come from your civilian hospitals and they performed with a level of experience and maturity unmatched anywhere. It is to your credit and I appreciate everything you?ve don in this honor to our Soldiers.?

Spc. Joshua Destevens of Oswego, N.Y. receives an encased American flag, a commemorative coin and a certificate of appreciation from his 466th Area Support Medical Company commander, Lt. Col. Richard Green during the unit Freedom Salute ceremony at the Glens Falls High School on Sunday, February 3, 2008. Congresswomen Kirsten Gillibrand, State Senator Elizabeth Little, community and National Guard senior leaders were on hand to recognize the 70 National Guard Citizen-Soldiers and their families from the 466th for their service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The unit returned home from Iraq in October 2007, after operating four separate medical treatment facilities across Iraq. During their year-long deployment, unit personnel completed more than 30,000 medical visits, ranging in patient care from minor aches, pains and illnesses to extremely serious battlefield injuries and trauma.
