JFK International Airport-- Soldiers assigned to the New York Army National Guard's 442nd Military Police Company return home to New York through JFK International Airport on Dec. 16, 2017. The company deployed more than 100 Soldiers to Puerto Rico to support local police in the wake of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The last 40 Soldiers returned hom on Dec. 16.

The company deployed over 120 Soldiers to Puerto Rico to assist in security missions. While the bulk of the unit returned to New York on Nov. 6; 40 MPs have remained behind until December.

The MPs, who mobilized for federal duty at Camp Smith Training Site on Jan. 3 will train at Fort Bliss before deploying to Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, Cuba, where they will serve as part of Joint Task Force Guantanamo.

NEW YORK CITY -- Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen greets New York Army National Guard Capt. Sean O’Donnell, a member of Headquarters Detachment 104th Military Police Battalion, at the Robin Hood Foundation Dinner here on May 9. The Foundation, which targets poverty in New York City, is launching an initiative to aid veterans in New York City. Mullen was a featured speaker at the event, and members of the Army and Army National Guard were invited to the dinner. The dinner included a performance by pop singer Lady Gaga.

CAMP RAMADI, IRAQ-- Soldiers from the New York Army National Guard’s 442nd Military Police Company, based at the Jamaica, Queens Armory, train in stretcher bearing skills on February 16. The company has been assigned to the 4th Advise and Assist Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division while deployed. The company is expected to return to the United States in early April.

The company, commanded by Capt. Tara Dawes, who served in the unit in Iraq as an enlisted Soldier, is due to deploy to Fort Dix New Jersey on April 19 for post-mobilization training. The Soldiers will serve in Iraq.

Dawe, the commander of the New York Army National Guards 442nd Military Police Company deployed with the unit to Iraq in 2003-2004 as an enlisted Soldier. Dawe, who joined the Army in 1994, will lead the company back to Iraq in 2010.

TARRYTOWN--New York Governor David Paterson meets with Soldiers, leaders and family members of the 442nd Military Police Company on Saturday, Dec. 5, during a Yellow Ribbon Program pre-mobilization meeting at the Marriott Hotel here. The governor spoke to the Soldiers and their families before meeting privately with a few members of the unit. In his remarks he thanked the members of the unit for their sacrifice and the families for supporting their Soldiers. "Remember that your family,your friends, The State of New York, and the United States of America stand squarely behind you," Gov. Paterson said. The 442nd deployed to Iraq in 2003 and is due to return in the spring of 2010.

CAMP SMITH- Members of the 442nd MP Company and the 104th MP Battalion, go through Soldier Readiness Checks Saturday, Jan. 17, at Camp Smith Training Site as they prepare to deploy to Washington D.C. to support the inaguration of Barack Obama as president of the United States. The New York National Guard is sending 225 members of the New York Army and Air National Guard to Washington to assist the District of Columbia National Guard with traffic control and communications. The Soldiers and Airmen mustered at Camp Smith before heading to Washington on Jan. 18. Their service and health records were checked as part of the inprocessing at Camp Smith.
