The event featured guest speakers games and prizes for members children and an appearance by members of the 501st Legion-- a group of Star Wars players-- dressed up as Darth Vader and a Clone Trooper.

The Naval Militia conducted security missions on the lake in support of the Border Patrol, helping to direct boaters to the Customs and Border Protection inspection station.

CAMP SMITH--New York Naval Militia Petty Officer Frank Gavin conducts training on how to tow one of the Military Emergency Boat Service patrol craft during training here on May 18. The Naval Militia’s Military Emergency Boat Service (MEBS) operates nine watercraft that support security and law enforcement missions. Naval Militia members belong to the Navy Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, and Marine Corps Reserve and agree to make themselves available for state duty when called upon. A small number of Naval Militia members are retired servicemembers not affiliated with the federal reserve forces.
