HOHENFELS, GERMANY-- Lt. Col. James Freehart, the commander of the 204th Engineer Battalion from Bighamton, N.Y. is briefed by Lt. John Scott, the officer in charge of construction with the 827 Engineer Company from Chester, N.Y. at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center here August 15, 2012. Seventy-eight New York Army National Guard Soldiers with the 827th and 152nd Engineer Companies from the 204th Engineer Battalion traveled to Hohenfels as part of their annual training August 4-25 to aid in troop construction projects on the base’s pre-deployment training area.

ONEONTA - Crystal Walker shares her experiences with Soldiers and family members of the New York Army National Guard’s 827th Engineer Company, Saturday, Dec. 13 during a Yellow Ribbon pre-mobilization briefing. Walker was one of several speakers and service providers made available at the event to help soldiers and their families prepare for deployment to Afghanistan in early 2010 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The 827th Engineer Company is a horizontal construction company specializing in building and repairing roads and is headquartered in Horseheads, NY and has a detachment in Walton NY. They are part of the 204th Engineer Battalion based in Binghamton. The Battalion plays a significant role responding to sate emergencies. In Afghanistan the 827th is expected to be involved primarily in road construction with D-7 Dozers, Scrapers, Graders and general earth moving equipment. Photo by Staff Sgt. SPC Patrick E. McCarthy, 827th Engineer Company, New York Army National Guard, operates a D7 bulldozer in an attempt to restore the washed away protions of the Holiday Brook Road and return the Holiday Brook back to its original course. After heavy rains Tuesday evening, a flash flood portions of the road and damaged several home and destroyed one. Four persons were reported missing after the flood waters receded.
