New York Soldiers take over Ukraine training

GRAFENWOEHR, GERMANY-- New York Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to Task Force Orion 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team stand in formation during the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine Transfer of Authority ceremony in Grafenwoehr Germany August 8 2022. The unit assumed the JMTG-U mission from Task Force Gator 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team Florida Army National Guard and will ensure the combat effectiveness of Ukrainian military personnel training on systems and equipment issued under the United States Presidential Drawdown Authority.

Soldiers say farewell to families

SYRACUSE- Soldiers from the New York Army National Guard's 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team who are deploying to Europe to serve as part of the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine stand in formation during a farewell ceremony on Friday, July 15 at the Thompson Road Armory in Syracuse. The New York Army National Guard Soldiers will relieve Florida Army National Guard Soldiers who are currently conducting the mission.

27th Brigade leaders use WWII battle to teach

SYRACUSE -- Capt. Nicholas Charnley, Maj. Dermot Gavin and Maj. Jared Kausner assigned to the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Teamdiscuss the theoretical application of multi-domain operations in a modern-day version of the Battle of Saipain in World War II, during a leaders workshop in Syracuse New York February 26 2022. The workshop served to prepare the 27th IBCTs senior leaders for upcoming deployments and development of their future forces.

NY Army Guard medics compete in Army-wide contest

FORT HOOD, TEXAS-- Staff Sgt. Dylan Delamarter, a member of the 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry, and Sgt. Ethan Hart, from the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry, who are both combat medics transport a a patient during the Army's Best Medic Competition. Twenty-two two-Soldier teams from around the world traveled to Fort Hood Texas to competes to be named the Army's Best Medic during the 72-hour event.

Soldiers assigned to brigades hedquarters and headquarters company were recently fielded the new pistol and fired it for the first time during annual individual weapons qualification.

Soldiers Win 27th Brigade Best Warrior

LOCKPORT--Spc. Austin Manville, 22, of Rochester(left) a member of the 2nd Squadron, 101st Cavalry, and Sgt. Brandon Clemente, 26, of Poughkeepsie, a member of the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry, were the winners of the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team's Best Warrior Competition held October 20 to 23 at the Youngstown Local Training Area near Niagara Falls. Manville won in the enlisted Soldier category, while, Clemente won in the NCO category.

Col. Sean Flynn takes command of 27th Brigade

FORT DRUM--New York Army National Guard Col. Sean Flynn received the colors of the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team from Maj. Gen. Thomas Spencer commander of the 42nd Infantry Division during a change of command ceremony at Fort Drum New York on July 17. Flynn assumed command of the light infantry brigade which includes more than 4000 Soldiers across New York Masachusetts and Rhode Island.

Homeland Response Force training at Dix

Soldiers and Airmen of the National Guard Homeland Response Force for FEMA Region II conduct validation training of their response capability to assist civilian authorities in the event of a chemical biological radiological or nuclear incident at Lakehurst Naval Air Station in Lakehurst N.J. November 15-17 2019. The team comprised of some 600 members of the New York and New Jersey National Guard train to augment first reponsders in the event of a CBRN incident.

27th Brigade gets new counter-mortar radar

FORT DRUM--Soldiers with the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team field the new AN/TPQ-50 Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar (LCMR) on July 31, 2019, at Fort Drum, New York. The radar section for the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team took a course on the new radar system that was over a week long before testing in the field.

27th Brigade Troops Return Home from Ukraine

Adam Bajorski the operations officer for the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team hugs his children after returning from a 10 month deployment to Ukraine Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station N.Y. Aug. 23 2018. Bajorski came home with more than 70 other Soldiers who are the last of 220 that were part of the Joint Multinational Training Group-Ukraine which deployed in October of 2017 to help oversee the training of 2000 Ukrainian soldiers alongside other NATO countries.

WAREGEM, BELGIUM--Col Christopher Cronin the commanderof the New York Army National Guards 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and other brigade Soldiers pose for a photograph at Flanders Field American Cemetery Waregem Belgium on August 5 2018 following a World War I commemoration ceremony. The brigade Soldiers were honoring the memory of the 18,000 New York National Guardsmen of the 27th Division who fought in the region in 1918. Part of the centennial of the end of WWI the 27th and 30th Infantry Brigades were invited to Belgium and France to conduct ceremonies and tour famous locations to commemorate the event.
