PRATTVILLE--Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano thanks New York Army National Guard Specialist Whitnee McKinney for her service during a visit here on August 31 as Brig. Gen. Michael Swezey, the commander of Joint Task Force Irene, the New York National Guard force which responded to Hurricane Irene looks on. Napolitano visited Prattsville with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Federal Emergency Management Administration head Craig Fulgate to better understand the damage done by flooding in the area. New York Army National Guard UH-60s flew the team to the location.

NEW YORK-- New York Army National Guard Major Tanya Pennella greats her daughter Angelina Pennella after returning from 10 months service in Iraq with the 53rd Army Liaison Team. Pennella and other members of the small, specialist unit, returned to their headquarters at the Park Avenue Armory in Manhattan on Saturday, Jan. 30. The members of the 53rd provided specialists to man both U.S. and Iraqi headquarters in Baghdad and also provided members of the U.S. commanders personal security detachment.
