FLORIDA--A civilian search and rescue vehicle loads on board a CH-47F Chinook helicopter operated by New York Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to B Company 3rd Battalion 126th Aviation Regiment prior to a mission on Sanibel Island Florida on October 2 2022. At the direction of Governor Kathy Hochul the New York National Guard deployed 2 CH-47F aircraft and 11 Soldiers to assist the Florida National Guard in responding to the destruction caused by Hurricane Ian.

ROCHESTER-- A New York Army National Guard CH-47F Chinook helicopter deploying from the Rochester International Airport on Wednesday Sept. 28 2022 lifts off for Jacksonville Florida to provide support to the Florida National Guard has Hurricane Ian heads for the state. Two aircraft and 11 Soldiers were deployed fore the mission at the direction of Governor Kathy Hochul.

NY Army Aviators move pontoon from Niagara River

NIAGARA FALLS-- A CH-47 Chinook assigned to the New York Army National Guards Bravo Company 3rd Battalion 126th Aviation removes a 3900-pound steel pontoon from the Niagara River just above the American side of Niagara Falls in Niagara Falls New York on May 4 2022. The pontoon which washed away from an ice dam in 2019 was removed because of concerns that it could go over the falls and damage the Cave of the Winds.

SOUTH KINGSTOWN, Rhode Island-- An airborne Soldier participating in the Leapfest International Airborne Competition in South Kingstown Rhode Island exist a CH-47 flown by Soldiers from the New York Army National Guards Bravo Company 3rd Battalion 126th Aviation from 1500 feet in the air heading for his target. Soldiers from Bravo Company 3rd Battalion 126th Aviation based in Rochester N.Y. have been providing support to the Rhode Island National Guards Leapfest competition since 2011.

The New York aircrew was assisting members of the West Virginia Army National Guard's 2nd Battalion 19th Special Forces Group ( Airborne) in conducting helocast training. Helocasting is a technique that involves personnel exiting a helicopter into water. It is used to insert small groups behind enemy lines.

Aviators celebrate return from combat

Army Guard Aviators train in Colorado

GYPSUM, C.O. New York Army National Guard two CH-47 F models left the Army Aviation Support Facility in Rochester for Gypsum, Colorado on April 18, 2016, all of the aviators and crew members from Detachment 1, Company B, 3rd Battalion 126th Aviation Regiment received certificates from the airport proving they landed at the highest airport in the US. The mountains of Colorado simulate the mountains of Afghanistan in both weather and terrain aspects. This is in preparation for the companys third deployment to Afghanistan now with the Army's newest model Chinook. The Battalion is part of the 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade.

Guard Chinooks Train in New York Airspace

NEW YORK- CH-47 Chinook helicopters assigned to the New York Army National Guard's Detachment 1 Company B 3rd Battalion 126th Aviation regiment circle New York City during a training flight on Tuesday, April 1. The aviators, who are based in Rochester, were flying in the New York City area to familiarize themselves with the airspace traffic patterns there in case they needed to respond during an emergency. Guard Aviator Receives Purple Heart in Afghanistan

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan- New York Army National Guard Sgt. John Stormm, a member of Detachment 1 Company B 3rd Battalion 126th Aviation (Heavy Lift) receives the Purple Heart and the Air Medal from Lt. Col. Mike Higginbotham, the commander of Task Force Knighthawk during award ceremonies here on April 18. Stormm received a bullet wound during a resupply mission in Afghanistan. The Soldiers of the Rochester-based detachment are preparing to return to the United States in May after a nine-month long rotation in Afghanistan.

Chasing The Sun

KHANDAHAR, Afghanistan-- A New York Army National Guard CH-47 heads into the sun at the conclusion of a seven-hour mission conducted by Det. 1, Company B, 3-26th Aviation (Heavy Lift) earliers this month. Army Guard CH-47 Gives Lift to Park Police Boat

NIAGARA FALLS--A New York Army National Guard CH-47 based a the Army Aviation Support Facility in Rochester hoists a New York State Park Police out of the Niagara River on Sunday, June 19. The Chinook assigned to Det. 1 Co. B 3rd Battalion 126th Aviation and commanded by Capt. Eric Fritz retrieved the boat after its crew was forced to abandon it just above the falls on Saturday. The State Park Police Crew had rescued stranded boaters when they became disoriented. They anchored their boat and were airlifted to shore by a Canadian rescue helicopter.

Reaching Out to Returning Troops, Families

Sgt.1st Class Jeffrey Bailey and his wife Darlene talk with Education Care Manager Scott Kaczmarek from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs. The Soldiers of the 3rd Battalion, 126th Aviation and their family members took part in the New York Army National Guard Reintegration Program Saturday July 12 in Buffalo. The Reintegration Program is an effort to help Soldiers and families cope with the stress of returning to civilian life after deployment. Soldiers from Co. B, 3rd Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment based in Rochester returned home May 31 following a ten-month tour in Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom.
