Master Gunnery Sergeant Sal Rignola, Force Senior Enlisted Leader, New York Naval Militia

Master Gunnery Sergeant Salvatore Rignola has served thirty-nine devoted and honorable years in the United States Marines Corps Reserve. Master Gunnery Sergeant Salvatore Rignola was born in Brooklyn N.Y. on the 14 of May 1960. He joined the Marine Corps in October 1980, upon completion of recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Training at Parris Island. He attended and graduated from the following schools at MCCES MCAGCC 29 Palms Ca. Basic Electronics Course, Radio Fundamental Course and Ground Radio Repair Course. After the completion of the schools Master Gunnery Sergeant Salvatore Rignola was assigned to Electronic Maintenance Company (ELMACO) 4th. FSSG Bronx N.Y.

In 1984 Master gunnery Sergeant graduated from Primary Marksmanship School at Quantico Va. Then in 1985 He was assigned to Support Company, 6th Communications Battalion Bronx N.Y. as a CEM Section Leader from 1984 to 1990. From 1990-1991, Master Gunnery Sergeant Rignola was activated and deployed with Service Company, 8th Communication Battalion as a Section Leader of CEM platoon in Saudi Arabia. During 1993 and 1996 He attended and graduated from Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Specialist Course in Alabama and Nuclear Emergency Team Operations Course in New Mexico.

From 1997 to 2002 Master Gunnery Sergeant Rignola assumed the duties as CEM Platoon Commander and than Engineer Platoon Commander at 6th Communications Battalion Service Company, Brooklyn N.Y. In 2003 he was activated and deployed with 6th Communication Battalion to Kuwait as an Eng. Plt Commander and then to Iraq with the US Army 358 Civil Affairs Brigade as a Liaison Officer. In 2004 he returned to 6th Communication Battalion Service Company as Maintenance Management Chief.

From 2006 to 2007 Master Gunnery Sergeant Rignola attended the following courses: Civil Affairs Noncommissioned Officers Course and Counterinsurgency Leader’s Course. Then he was deployed with the 4th Civil Affairs Group and assigned with 2/3 Echo Company to Haditha Iraq as CAG Assistant Team Leader. Upon return to 6th Communication Battalion Service Company in 2007 he assumed the duties as the Operations Chief.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Rignola joined the New York Naval Militia in 1981 and has served on numerous Active Duty Emergency, training and non-pay missions. In 2010 he was selected as SEA for South Command.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Rignola’s many commendations and awards include but are not limited to the following; Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Bronze “V” Combat Distinguishing Device and Combat Action Ribbon and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4).

Master Gunnery Sergeant Rignola has and still is serving the City of New York for over forty-three years. In 1981 he was hired off a Military list as a NYC Corrections Officer then hired in 1985 by the NYC Fire Department as a Fireman, then in 1994 promoted to Fire Marshal and in 2005 promoted to Supervising Fire Marshal. In 2013 MGySgt Rignola was promoted to Commander.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Rignola has a Bachelor of Arts, Emergency Manage and Business Continuity. He also a graduate of the FBI National Academy s, e.s s ion 241.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Salvatore Rignola is married to the former Ms. Grace Elizabeth Iturralde of Brooklyn, New York. He has six beloved children: James, Alicia, Salvatore, Grace, Elizabeth and Joseph.
