Press Invited To Final Fly-off Of F-16s From Syracuse Air Base

HANCOCK FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, SYRACUSE, NY (03/05/2010)-- Members of the press are invited to witness the fly-off of the last two F-16s from the 174th Fighter Wing during a ceremony set for Saturday March 6 at 2 pm.
Who: 174th Fighter Wing, Hancock Field, Syracuse
What: Observe ceremony commemorating the final departure of F-16s from Hancock Field, including a short aerial demonstration and fly-off by Wing Commander Col. Kevin Bradley and Lt. Col. Dan Tester of the last two F-16s from the base.
Why: The 174th Fighter Wing is concluding its F-16 operations on March 6, 2010 after 22 years when the final two F-16s will fly off from Hancock Field. A formal ceremony is being held at 2 pm on March 6 to commemorate that event.
Col. Charles Dorsey, Vice Wing Commander, will be available for interviews to discuss the Wing's F-16 mission.
When: Saturday, March 6, 2010 - Arrive at base NLT 1:30 pm
Where: 174th Fighter Wing, 6001 E. Molloy Road, DeWitt (use Thompson Road gate)
Coverage Opportunities:
Media members will be able to observe a formal Wing formation and ceremony commemorating the history of the F-16 with the 174th Fighter Wing. There will be opportunities for imagery and video of the final two F-16s taxiing past the Wing's historic aircraft and performing a short aerial demonstration before flying off the base for the last time.
