During the ceremony Soldiers were recognized for their outstanding performance during pre-mobilization training at Fort Drum NY. Nicholas Trentanelli, executive officer of Delta Company, 152nd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team deadlifts more than 400lbs during a workout at the Atkins Functional Fitness Facility in Fort Drum, New York on July 22. On the day prior, Trentanelli successfully benched, squated, and deadlifted a combined total of 1550 pounds, breaking Fort Drums previous 1,000 pound club record by 325 pounds.

Dakotah Miller, an infantryman in the 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry, finished in second place in the Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition held at held in Camp Navajo, Arizona, July 19-23. Miller is a full-time student in exercise science at SUNY Cortland. It marked the fourth year in a row that the New York National Guard sent a competitor to the national level.

The New York State Preparedness Training Center (SPTC), located at the former Oneida County Airport in Oneida County, is managed and operated by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. The center includes 723 acres, an educational and administration building (the former airport terminal), hangars and runways which have been transformed into a centralized training facility for New York State agency and local first responders from all disciplines.

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- A bobsled with a New York Sgt. Kenneth Stout, an infantry Soldier from the New York Army National Guard combat veteran from the 2nd Battalion 108th Infantry heads down the track during the during the 2009 Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge. The fourth annual race, held Jan. 3 in Lake Placid, N.Y., raises funds for the U.S. Olympic Bobsled Team through the participation of NASCAR and NHRA competition drivers. Stout, from his armory in Ogdensburg, N.Y., along with other veteran Soldiers of the 108th Infantry from New York's North Country, participated as racing partners to the NASCAR drivers. This year's race winner was Todd Bodine and his brakeman, Spc. Patrick Furman, a vehicle driver from the Schenectady based Company E, 427th Brigade Support Battalion.

ROCHESTER - Maj. Gen. Joseph Taluto, and his wife Susan Taluto, address Soldiers and family members of the 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Saturday Nov. 22, via video, at the Woodcliff Resort & Conference Center. The soldiers and their families gathered for The New York Army National Guard Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program. The NYARNG Reintegration Program is an effort to help Soldiers and their families cope with stress of returning to civilian life after deployment, while also helping National Guard Units transition from federal mobilization status back to state control. The two day event included opening remarks by Brig. Gen. Patrick Murphy, Director Joint Forces Headquarters and was followed by a Job Fair type event featuring VA, veterans groups, legal assistance, etc. The 2-108th Infantry (Security Force Company) recently returned from Afghanistan where they served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as a member of Task Force Phoenix VI and VII.

Members of the decontamination team from the New York Army National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry prepare casualties for decontamination and medical processing during validation of the team’s casualty evacuation, decontamination and medical assessment mission. Nearly 300 members of the New York Army National Guard’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosive Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP) conducted their team’s validation exercise at Fort Drum, N.Y. on June 17, 2007. The exercise evaluated the team’s ability to rapidly establish decontamination sites, evacuate casualties and provide decontamination and medical triage in support of civil authorities.
