More than 2000 New York Army National Guard troops are headed for the National Training Center at Ft. Irwin, California for premobilization training as they prepare for a deployment to Afghanistan. The training area at NTC is located in the Mojave Desert, just south of Death Valley where temperatures reach over 100 degrees
