HANCOCK FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, SYRACUSE--New York Army National Guard Soldiers of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2-108th Infantry Battalion board a plane here September 30, 2011. More than 2000 New York Army National Guard troops are headed for the National Training Center at Ft. Irwin, California for premobilization training as they prepare for a deployment to Afghanistan. The training area at NTC is located in the Mojave Desert, just south of Death Valley where temperatures reach over 100 degrees
