 “Chattanooga Colors”
New York State Capitol
November 2008 – October 2009

This exhibition presents seven conserved Civil War flags to commemorate the 145th anniversary of the battles for Chattanooga, Tennessee. Each flag serves as a silent testimonial to the courage displayed during the struggle to liberate Chattanooga, the “Gateway to the South.” This exhibit not only honors the over 3,700 citizen soldiers from New York State who followed their colors to faraway Tennessee, but it also presents the preserved, tangible reminders of their gallantry and sacrifice.
