1863: Loyal till death
New York State Capitol
July 2013 - May 2014

This exhibition chronicles the dedication and loyalty demonstrated by New Yorkers throughout 1863, the tumultuous turning point of the Civil War, by presenting ten conserved battle flags from the New York State Battle Flag Collection. Loyal till death connects inspirational personal stories with the year’s most dramatic events to reveal the motivational power that flags, the fabric of battle, provided to all soldiers and citizens from the Empire State.
