Service Member and Family Resource Center
One Call Does it All
Service Member and Family Resource Centers (SMFRC) are located around the nation to serve the needs of Service Members and their Families by providing Eight Essential Services. There are fourteen Service Member and Family Resource Centers conveniently located throughout New York. They are staffed by Military and Family Readiness Specialists who offer information and referrals to Service Members and their Families regardless of their branch of service or duty status.
MFRSs’ provide information on resources and benefits that are available within the military network and in your local community.
Our Eight Essential Services include:
- Legal Resource and Referrals
Assistance with Powers of Attorney/Wills, Service Members Civil Relief Act, USERRA, ESGR. - Financial Resource and Referrals
Understanding military pay; referrals for financial assistance grants/loans; referrals for personal financial management training. - TRICARE Resource and Referral
Assistance with TRICARE Medical and Dental applications; identifying medical service providers; claims assistance. - ID Cards and DEERS
Assistance with obtaining dependent ID cards through nearest RAPIDS Centers. - Crisis Intervention and Referral
Emergency assistance with sensitive issues; American Red Cross. - Community Information and Outreach
Assistance with Child Care resources, employment and career resources and VA benefits resources. - Exceptional Family Member Program or EFMP
A mandatory U.S Department of Defense enrollment program that works with other Military and civilian agencies to provide comprehensive and coordinated community support, housing, educational, medical, and personnel services worldwide to U.S. military families with special needs. - Emergency Family Assistance Center or EFAC
Emergency Family Assistance Centers promotes short and long term recovery and the return to a stable environment and mission ready status for DoD personnel and their families following an all-hazards incident. Simply, an EFAC is to coordinate and provide accurate information, comfort, and support to individuals and families impacted by disaster.
