CENTRAL COMMAND AREA--Fourteen New York Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to C Company 101st Expeditionary Signal Battalion who received the Combat Action Badge from Lt. Col. Paul Mulligan the battalion commander during a ceremony conducted in Jordan on April 17 2024 pose for a photograph with company and battalion leaders. The 14 Soldiers were deployed at a location known as Tower 22 on 28 January 2024 when a drone strike killed three U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers and injured 47 other military personnel. The 101st Soldiers are deployed to the Middle East as part of Operation Spartan Shield.

CAMP BUEHRING,Kuwait-- New York Army National Guard SPC Junhee Choi, a member of the 101 Expeditionary Signal Battalion, prepares for the individual weapons qualification using the Engagement Skills Trainer 2000 during the 160th Theater Signal Brigade Best Squad competition at Camp Arifjan Kuwait. Between March 18 and 24, the competitors went through a rigorous gauntlet of tasks and events including the Army combat fitness test individual weapons qualification timed 12-mile ruck march land navigation and a review board to determine the best squad in the brigade. The 101st mission is to provide tactical communications throughout the United States Central Command Area of Operations. The unit is currently spread out across nine countries within the middle east.

The 101st ESB has served nine months in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield providing communications support for more than a dozen operating sites in some seven countries across the Middle East as part of the coalition effort to defeat the Islamic State also known as ISIS. The unit is expected back in New York soon.

RYE BROOK N.Y. - Children from the New York Army National Guards 101st Expeditionary Signal Battalion display welcome home banners for their deployed parent following the New York National Guard Family Program Strong Bonds event here June 2 at the Doral Arrowwood Conference Center. The weekend event supported 18 spoused and families of deployed Soldiers of the 101st Signal Battalion due home from Afghanistan in late June and early July. The retreat encouraged discussion about issues families faced during the deployment and how families can help their Soldier with reintegration once they return. KANDAHAR, Afghanistan--A color guard stands at attention during the Transition of Authority Ceremony conducted here on Monday, Oct. 15 as the New York Army National Guard's 101st Expeditionary Signal Battalion took over the duties of providing communications support to American and Coalition forces in the country. The 101st replaced the Alabama Army National Guard's 115th Expeditionary Signal Battalion. This is the first time since the Korean War that the colors of the battalion have been unfurled in a combat zone.
