National Guard Professional Education Training (NGPEC): Federal Technicians and AGR's assigned to positions that have Mandatory Training Requirements will be scheduled for training at PEC within the first several months of employment as a condition of continued employment. Failure of a technician or AGR to complete NGB prescribed course(s) at PEC, within the first year of employment, may be reason for reassignment to other full-time positions or termination from employment.
Individual Development Plans (IDP's): Individual Development Planning (IDP) is a process for identifying work experience, training and other activities that contribute to improved job performance and self development. This deliberate planning process provides a good framework for development discussions between employee and supervisor. It involves a joint effort between supervisor and employee in assessing the employee’s skills and expertise in relation to current or future job requirements and then identifying appropriate training and other developmental experiences. Please review the powerpoint slides and NGB guidance listed below. If you have further questions, do not hesitate to contact the state HRDS.
ALL travel orders and travel vouchers will be processed through the Defense Travel System (DTS). The only exceptions are Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders, which will be processed using the current Integrated Automated Travel System (IATS). For further guidance please refer to the USP&FO’s Memorandum of Instruction to Implement DTS for New York Army National Guard Travelers.
Technician Personnel Management Course: All new Supervisors of Federal Technicians are required to attend this course within the first year of being assigned supervisory duties. Additionally, it is recommended that Supervisors attend this course as a refresher every 3-5 years to remain current with regulatory requirements and guidance. Each fiscal year the HRO schedules TPMC's in different locations, check with the HRDS for upcoming dates.
