Keeping New York Harbor Safe

OFF THE COAST OF LONG ISLAND - The New York Naval Militia's patrol boat PB 440 carried a squad of U.S. Coast Guard boarding team members to an inbound Saudi Arabian ship on Feb. 25 at Ambrose anchorage to be inspected before the ship can enter loading docks in Brooklyn.

Recently, the PB 440 and crew were utilized for recovery efforts of U.S. Air flight 1549 that was forced to land in the Hudson River.

The New York Naval Militia regularly works with the U.S. Coast Guard in New York Harbor.
