FORT DIX, N.J. - Colonel Gary Machina (front, right), Sgt. Major Randy Ross and Soldiers of the 53rd Army Liaison Team (ALT) are visited by the New York Army National Guard Chief of Staff, Col. James Lettko on March 23 prior to deploying to Iraq.
The New York Army National Guard's 53rd ALT finished mandatory combat training at Fort Dix and is now in the process of moving into Iraq where the unit will work with elements of the Iraqi Army to help coordinate operations in the campaign against Al-Qaeda and other terrorist elements.
