Maj. Gen. Jack Briggs, left, Director of Operations for Headquarters U.S Northern Command, visits with New York Army National Guard Soldiers on security duties at New York’s Pennsylvania Station rail hub. The Soldiers are part of Joint Task Force Empire Shield, a security enhancement force performing state active duty in New York City to augment law enforcement. Some 500 Soldiers and Airmen are currently serving on the task force and surged operations November 26 in support of the busiest travel day in the city.
