CAMP SMITH--New York Army National Guard Command Sgt. Major James Meltz (left) and Lt. Col. Sean Flynn commander of the 1st Battalion 69th Infantry display Meltzs retirement gift following battalion change of responsibility ceremonies in Friday Jan. 29 2016 at Camp Smith Training Site. Meltz, a New York State Trooper in civilian life, received the Bronze Star with V for valor following an Afghan deployment in 2008 as first sergeant of D Co. 2nd Battalion 108th Infantry.
