CAMP SMITH-- New York Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Michael Ammirati an infantryman with Headquarters and Headquarters Company 1st Battalion 69th Infantry Regiment scans for targets during the annual shooting match between the 69th Infantry and the Massachusetts Army National Guard's 1st Battalion 182nd Infantry Regiment on Sept. 18, 2026 at the United States Military Academy at West Point. The Logan-Duffy Annual Rifle Match dates back to 1936 and is designed to foster tactical readiness, individual marksmanship capability, and interstate esprit de corps reinforcing a fraternal bond between the two storied Northeast Irish-American battalions that originated during the Civil War.
