Governor Meets with Guard Members in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan - New York Gov. David Paterson shakes the hand of New York Army National Guard Specialist Alfredo Alvarado, and presents him with a coin at Camp Phoenix, Kabul, Afghanistan, during a visit to the troops.

Alvarado received American citizenship Dec. 23 in recognition of his service to New York State and the United States.

Paterson visited Alvarado and lunched with 200 other members of the 27th Brigade Combat Team during a visit made to Afghanistan as part of his trip to Iraq and Afghanistan with a Congressional Delegation.
