WASHINGTON, D.C.-New York Army National Guard Sgt. JOINT BASE ANDREWS -- U.S. Soldiers with the New York National Guard's 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry exit a C-17 Globemaster III assigned to the New York Air National Guard's 105th Airlift Wing, upon arrival at Joint Base Andrews Maryland Jan. 18 2021. An additional 250 Soldiers from the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team joined 1,000 who were already sent to Washington on January 8-9. At least 25000 National Guard men and women have been authorized to conduct security communication and logistical missions in support of federal and District authorities leading up and through the 59th Presidential Inauguration.

New York has been participating in a Department of Defense program to refine the logistics of delivering the COVID-19 vaccine which has already been tested and approved.
