The 224th Air Defense Group is manned by New York Air National Guard Airmen and is a component of the Easter Air Defense Sector which coordinates air defense for the United States east of the Mississippi and in the National Capitol District.

The university needed parking lots cleared of three feet of snow so that operations could resume.

The Front Porch would provide a place to offer astronauts medical care after the crew module splashes down at the end of a flight. The New York pararescuemen are participating in joint NASA/Department of Defense training exercises to test recovery equipment for NASA's new spacecraft, the Orion.

Final FlightLATHAM-A New York Army National Guard C12 aircraft, piloted by Chief Warrant Officer 5 Robert Wold, taxis through a rainbow at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Latham, N.Y. on Dec. 21. The rainbow formed as Wold completed his traditional military "final flight" and taxied the aircraft through jets of water sprayed by Albany Airport crash trucks.
