New York Army National Guard Spc. Daniel Wiwczar from Kings Park, N.Y. lubricates his M240B machinegun from his gunner�s position on a humvee March 1, 2008 at Forward Operating Base Patriot on Fort Bragg, N.C. Wiwczar is assigned to Security Force Detachment C, part of the 27th Brigade Combat Team's preparations for deployment as Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix. The troops in the security force formed from the Bayshore-based company of the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry, the Army's famed "Fighting 69th." The task force will deploy to Afghanistan later this spring to mentor and train Afghan national army and police forces.
