LATHAM, N.Y. - Soldiers of the New York Army National Guard's 3rd Battalion, 142nd Aviation board a bus on June 9 to leave for Fort Sill, Okla., where they will train for a 10-month deployment to Balad, Iraq. The 142nd consisting of the Latham-based unit, a Ronkonkoma, N.Y.-based unit and a company sized unit from Missouri will conduct air transportation operations in support of Multi-National Corps Iraq as part of the 34th Aviation Brigade, an element of the Minnesota Army National Guard.
