FORT MONTGOMERY, N.Y. - Ten Military Emergency Boat Service (MEBS) patrol boats from New York’s Naval Militia form a tactical formation training column on the Hudson River just south of the Bear Mountain Bridge, Orange County, N.Y., Aug. 3, 2008.
The Naval Militia recently received its tenth boat to assist in maritime security for New York State in conjunction with other civil maritime authorities and was on the Hudson River for the day to perform multi-boat practice operations such as open-water radio communications and naval intercept/intrusion drills to prevent civilian boat traffic from entering restricted areas.
So far this year, MEBS has participated in various state-wide naval operations to include the U.S. Navy “Fleet Week” in New York City, 4th of July on the East River and has recently assisted the U.S Border Patrol on Lake Champlain.
