New York Islanders left wing Jeff Tambellini meets New York Air National Guard Major Kerry McCauley during an October 24 visit to the 106th Rescue Wing at Grabreski Field Air National Guard Base.
Tambellini and center Frans Nielsen, toured the base, met with members of the wing and climbed aboard HH-60 Pavehawk rescue helicopters and HC-130 rescue aircraft to learn more about what the wing does.
The two players also signed autographs and met with children of wing members as well.
The Islanders will hold a military appreciation night during their Nov. 11, Veteran's Day game against the Philadelphia flyers.
