LATHAM- Major General Joseph Taluto, the Adjutant General, is joined by Melody Karhula, a Team Leader for the federal Department of Veterans Affairs, and Col. (ret.) Jim McDonough, Director of the New York State Division of Veterans Affairs, during a press conference Friday at Division of Military and Naval Affairs Headquarters.
Taluto and the state and federal veterans officials spoke to the media about efforts being made to ensure that all members of the 27th Brigade Combat Team, who recently returned from duty in Afghanistan, get a chance to talk to a veterans counselor.
In light of the increase in suicides in the Army, it's vital to do everything possible to reach out to Soldiers who may need help, Taluto said.
