STRATTON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Scotia-- New York Air National Guiard Airmen assigned to the state CERFP check their medical equipment on Friday, June 5, as they prepare for a major exercise at the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control training site in Albany.
The CERFP, which stands for CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and enhanced-yield Explosive) Enhanced Response Force Pacakge, is a team of Army and Air National Guardsmen trained to extract victims from destroyed buildings, decontaminate them and provide emergency medical care. New York fields one of 17 such teams in the United States.
