Soldier for a Day Visits National Guard

LATHAM, NY-- New York National Guard "Soldier for a Day" nine-year old Jacob is promoted to honorary Sergeant by Major Kevin Ferreira and Sgt. Major Anthony Malizia during a visit to the Army Aviation Support Facility here on Oct. 3.

Jacob, who suffers from acute lymphoblastic leukemia, has dreamed of being a Soldier and his visit to New York National Guard Headquarters was arranged by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, New York Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Matthew Starr and Family Readiness Group Coordinator Julie Rutledge.

During his day Jacob and his inspected helicopters and military vehicles, met the Adjutant General, Major General Joseph Taluto, and ate an Army lunch of Meals Ready to Eat.
Staff Sgt. Dolan Bramer, an aviation crew chief joined Jacob in formation during his promoton ceremony
